Environmental Responsibility

Sustainability is the guiding principle at every stage of Thor’s operations. Across all areas of production, a strong emphasis is placed on minimising environmental impact while utilising the most advanced and efficient production methods in a high‑tech environment, ensuring maximum product quality.

At Thor’s farming facility, regular monitoring is carried out across all aspects of production and the welfare of smolt and grow‑out fish to ensure well‑being and optimal growth.

Operations rely on clean, domestic renewable energy, natural freshwater, and pure seawater. Priority is given to minimising environmental impact through an efficient feed‑to‑growth ratio. No chemicals or hormones are used in production, and there is no risk of escape from the closed‑containment farming systems.

Thor also participates in important projects in environmentally responsible aquaculture:

• Hydros – focusing on monitoring and managing water use
• Terraforming LIFE – focusing on sludge utilisation and treatment

Waste generated by the operation is carefully treated and can be repurposed as fertiliser. Special care is taken to ensure that no adverse environmental impacts result from waste generated by the farming process.
