Thor operates sustainable, high‑tech food production just outside the town of Þorlákshöfn on the South Coast of Iceland, a location that offers ideal conditions for land‑based aquaculture, with exceptional freshwater and seawater quality, reliable energy, and robust infrastructure connecting the company to major markets abroad.
Thor specialises in land‑based salmon farming and the production of smolt for other aquaculture companies. In Þorlákshöfn, the company aims to produce over 40,000 tonnes of salmon annually in a facility developed in several phases.
Currently, the company operates a smolt facility with an annual production capacity of four million smolt, and construction has begun on the first phase of the grow‑out facility, which will produce 5,000 tonnes of salmon annually. Production will then be increased step by step over the coming years.
